A downloadable Gun Generator for Android

Firstly and Obviously:

I do not own any aspect of the Borderlands franchise, all rights to the property belong to 2K. The models, normal maps and names used in these applications are also the property of 2K, as they were extracted directly form the game. Please no sue. I am just a poor boy from a poor family.

...I also don't own any aspect of Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen,

This was a gift I made for my brother-in-law. His favorite game is Borderlands 2, but his favorite medium is tabletop games. He's always wanted his favorite game to be in his favorite medium, partly because if would allow him to share it with people in his life who either don't play FPSs or don't play that one. The problem, and the reason he could never design a version of this port was the issue of gun generation. Borderlands contains over 600,000 different combinations of gun parts, and bringing this aspect into the physical world seemed impossible. In one idea, the GM would need to stop the game every 2-3 minutes to do 10-15 minutes of dice-rolling and hard math to generate a gun and the stats that went with it, effected by the parts and scaled to the level of the the players, meaning that no matter how good the rest of the game was, the end product would be boring and tedious to an unplayable degree. The other alternative- a deck of 600,000 cards (each with a unique gun combination) would solve the pacing issue of the game, but could easily cost more than $6,000.00 to print simple, ugly little cards, let alone ones that actually look good.

My birthday gift to him was solving this impossible problem and opening the door to this dream of his possibly becoming a reality. The actual RPG itself is being play-tested currently, but these companion applications are complete enough to be viewed and used. The idea is as the GM, whoever was leading the game could press a button and generate a gun that is scaled to level, and representative of the actual appearance rate in the game. to accomplish this, I logged the data and the parts of over 300 guns that I gathered just by playing the video game in order to get accurate appearance rates of the types of guns, and of the rarities, as well as study trends in the effects that brand, rarity and gun parts had on the overall stats of the gun.

The GunGen works through a series of 11 random number generators that generate all the different aspects of the gun. It then takes the parts and uses them to generate a string which can be typed into the Inventory app to generate the exact same iteration of the gun with a negligible margin of error in the statistics. The stats that come out started out being almost identical to those in-game, but have been modified in several different ways to accommodate the tabletop nature of the game in development.

The next iteration of the Inventory app is to be able to actually store the guns in the app, so players can come back to them later. for the time being, This can be worked around by keeping the 11-character strings for all their guns, and re-generating the guns whenever they choose to use them.
